Bach Flower Therapy

Dr Edward Bach, a qualified doctor and homeopath, explored the healing properties of flowers early in the 20th century, and this culminated in the collection of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies.
These work solely on an emotional level, by transforming negative emotions to their positive counterparts. For example: hopelessness to hope; agitation and impatience to calm; fear to courage.Dr Bach believed that a positive emotional state strengthens the body’s immune system which in turn helps the individual to: combat stress, maintain good health, and “nip things in the bud.” In addition, illness symptoms are more effectively alleviated where the immune system is strong.
The remedies are still made using Dr Bach’s original methods by floating flowers in spring water in full sunlight and bottling the powerfully healing essence formed.
The role of the Bach Foundation Practitioner is two-fold: firstly to treat the patient, and secondly- most importantly- to teach them how to use the remedies, so that they are eventually fully equipped to look after themselves using Bach Flower Remedies. In this way patients take responsibility for their own health and are encouraged to be independent rather than dependent upon their practitioner. This reflects the philosophy of Edward Bach.
