winter ailments

This is the time of year when we all are getting tired at work - the dark mornings and nights don't help - and on top of that Christmas is coming and that can sometimes seem like the last straw. We may get a sore throat and then worry that we might not feel well enough to prepare for Christmas - or something like that. Its all more pressure. Its nice to have a few homeopathic remedies to hand which can just help nip things in the bud - like for example ACONITE  which can help stop a sore throat ...

5th blog

Just been thinking how lucky I have been to get to know local people around Birdham and the Witterings who have helped me with kindness in all sorts of ways - big and small but always meaningful. We all must use our local shops, businesses, trades people, cottage industries, because they are integral to a successful community - they form its backbone. Villages die when local shops and businesses close. Right now I want to mention Clive and Jess at access-by design based in Birdham who patiently worked with me to produce my first website. This was ...

blog 4

I’ve been thinking a lot about fear and anxiety recently because there seems to be so much of it around. People are frightened about swine flu because there has been so much media coverage. They are anxious about their work, debts, and bills - especially with winter upon us and Christmas very close. Fear is a powerful negative emotion which over time, can - if we allow it to - distort our judgement, deplete our energy, and compromise our immune systems. And some people live in fear all the time. We all need a certain level of anxiety to survive each day: We [hopefully] wait ...

3rd blog

Once again I find myself thinking about the work of Dr Edward Bach - in particular his belief that we should all take responsibility for our own health, and learn how to look after our selves. In fact the role of a Bach Flower Practitioner is not simply to help correct emotional imbalance in an individual but to teach that patient how to treat themselves. In this way each patient learns which remedies work for them - when to take them and how. It is anticipated that most patients will only need to see a practitioner for a few ...

2nd blog

9th November 2009 Carrying on really from last time the theme remains around the immune system and ways in which we can all help ourselves stay well. Now is the time when the clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in, and daylight hours are shorter, to really focus on boosting your immune system. The simplest way to do this on a daily basis is to get out when the morning winter sun is shining before 10am for at least half an hour. The sun activates the production of Vitamin D in the skin and has a beneficial ...

my first blog

My first blog. These last few weeks I have been spending some time thinking about general health matters. We are fast approaching winter and lots of animals either go into hibernation or a “ slowed down” state of being. Whatever it is called it is REST, and it is very beneficial. We human beings need REST on every level to allow our bodies and minds to recuperate and HEAL. We need to learn to listen to our bodies, and monitor our emotional states so that we REST instead of depleting our physical and emotional energy and compromising our immune system. Dr Edward Bach ...
